MERMAID FREEDIVE® PADI CERTIFICATION COURSES

Dive into the world of Mermaid Freedive ®  with PADI certification courses! Whether you want to become a certified mermaid or freediver for fun, your career  or so that you can move on to become an instructor yourself - we have a course for you! These magical sessions are led by Brandee Anthony, the Vero Beach Mermaid and her partner Zeke Motta of Primal Freediving! Brandee has 8 years of experience as a professional mermaid and performer. Gain insights on swimming, skills, performance, safety and much more while connecting with one of the industry leaders!

Courses are available on select dates under the schedule tab or you can book a private on your chosen date by filling out the form at the bottom of the page! Once you sign up, you will receive an email with event info, payment link and forms for you to fill out. Be sure to check prerequisites and requirements for the courses you are interested in below before signing up! You must supply all your own equipment: mask, snorkel, wetsuit if needed, mermaid tail and monofin.  Select rental gear is available, contact us in advance to reserve!

Mermaid Freedive® offers the following PADI Mermaid courses:

PADI Discover Mermaid Experience $155

The PADI Discover Mermaid experience is for participants who just want to try the feeling of transforming into a mermaid. There are no prerequisites. This experience consists of mermaid briefing and water session. Class is one hour and available for ages 6+. These classes are held in a pool in Vero Beach.

PADI Basic Mermaid Course $250

This is an introductory course for those who are brand new to using a monofin. This class consists of a knowledge development session and confined water session. You must be able to swim at least 25m and float comfortably at the surface for at least 3 minutes. Class is one hour and available for ages 6 to adult. These classes are held in a pool in Vero Beach. Price includes $25 in E-learning fee.

 

PADI Mermaid Course $450

This course is great for confident swimmers who are ready to enhance their mermaid skills. You must be able to swim at least 50m and float comfortably on the surface for 5 minutes. Consists of knowledge development sessions and 2 confined water sessions. It is recommended to pair this course with Advanced Mermaid. Available on select dates, as an add on to our retreats or can be booked privately at an additional cost. Available for ages 10 to adult. Price includes $50 in E-learning fee.

 

PADI Advanced Mermaid Course  $350 (pre req: mermaid)

Perfect for those who are confident in a monofin and want to take their mermading to the next level whether personally and/or professionally! You must be able to swim at least 100m and float comfortably on the surface for at least 10 minutes. Consists of knowledge development and 2 additional open water sessions past the Mermaid course. It is recommended to pair this course with Mermaid which is a prerequisite. Available on select dates, as an add on to our retreats or can be booked privately at an additional cost. Available for ages 12 to adult. Price includes $50 in E-learning fee.

PADI Advanced Mermaid Course Combo  $750 (reccomended)

Get both your Mermaid and Advanced Mermaid certifications done in one day! You must be able to swim at least 100m and float comfortably on the surface for at least 10 minutes. Consists of knowledge development sessions and 2 confined water sessions and 2 open water sessions. It is recommended to take these courses together. Available on select dates, as an add on to our retreats or can be booked privately at an additional cost. Available for ages 12 to adult. Price includes $100 in E-learning fees.

PADI  Mermaid Instructor $1650 (pre req: mermaid and advanced mermaid)

Become a  Mermaid instructor and live your dreams as a mermaid dive business! Mermaid Instructor is eligible to conduct the Discover Mermaid Experience, Basic Mermaid, Mermaid and Advanced Mermaid courses. There is an application process to receive your instructor rating, please view it here to see all that is required of you. EFR certification is required for this course and can be added on with us or taken prior to attending. Available for ages 18 and over. Must complete Mermaid and Advanced Mermaid first. Does not include PADI application fees.

Mermaid Freedive® offers the following PADI freedive courses:

PADI Skindiver $150 +PADI fees ($200 total)

Skin diving is snorkeling while making breath hold dives. It's a great way to explore the underwater world and begin to learn about freediving. Available for ages 8 and older. No prior experience required. Class is about two hours.

PADI Basic Freediver $300 +PADI fees ($400 total)

This is a subset for the beginner freediver course! A great first step for developing freedive skills and learning the basic principles of freediving. Available for ages 12 and older. No prior experience required. Class is about four hours

 

PADI Freediver $500 +PADI fees ($550 total)

Your first step toward discovering why freediving is becoming a popular way to explore beneath the waves. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with snorkeling, skin diving or freediving is required. 

 

The PADI Freediver course consists of three main phases:

• Knowledge development about freediving principles through independent study with PADI Freediver eLearning 

• Confined water session to learn breathhold techniques as well as static and dynamic apnea. Goal - static apnea of 90 seconds and dynamic apnea of 25 metres/80 feet.

• Open water sessions to practice free immersion and constant weight freedives, plus proper buddy procedures. Goal - constant weight freedive of 10 metres/30 feet. class is held over two days.

 

PADI Advanced Freediver $600 +PADI fees ($650 total)

 

Achieving a new freediving time or reaching a new depth is an incredible feeling. It satisfies that very personal desire to do your best and be proud of what you can accomplish. The PADI Advanced Freediver course is designed to fulfill that personal need to refine and improve your freediving skills, allowing you to progress slowly while learning how your body performs during apnea.

 

To enroll, you must have a PADI Freediver certification (or a qualifying certification from another freediver organization).

 

The PADI Advanced Freediver course consists of three main phases:

• Knowledge development about advanced freediving techniques and equipment. You'll study independently using the PADI Freediver eLearning 

• Confined water session to learn stretching and relaxation techniques as well as refine static and dynamic apnea. Goal - static apnea of 2 minutes, 30 seconds (2 minutes for freedivers younger than 18) and dynamic apnea of 50 metres/165 feet (40 metres/130 feet for freedivers younger than 18)

• Open water sessions to practice deeper free immersion and constant weight freedives, along with additional buddy procedures and rescue techniques. Goal - constant weight freedive of 20 meters/65 feet (15 metres/50 feet for freedivers younger than 18
